The Charleston Catholic High School boys' soccer team closed out the season with a sense of pride and reflection. Aidan Anton, a senior, described the year as one of effort and heart, where his team competed in every match. Indeed, he admitted, the Irish didn't meet their ultimate goals because they couldn't finish in key moments against tough opponents. Reflecting on it, Anton felt that stronger communication and more consistency on the field might have changed the outcome. He said what he will miss most as a graduating senior is the bond with his teammates, emphasizing that through soccer, the friendships and memories built make the experience extra special. Junior Alex Weber was in agreement with Anton, realizing the team didn’t make it as far as they’d have liked due to not taking advantage of games while they were in their favor. Looking ahead to his senior season, Weber is working on being more of a leader and setting the standard at practice in order to get the most out of all his teammates. He said everyone on the roster realizes they will have to assume more responsibility next year and he thinks they are ready to make that a reality. The preparation has already begun as players have been conditioning and honing their skills during the offseason so they will come back stronger and more focused. Taken together, Anton's introspection and Weber's resolve frame a program that's at least as interested in growth as it is in wins. This season might not have capped with a championship, but the Fighting Irish are continuing to invest in resilience, leadership, and pride. As seniors leave their mark in teamwork and juniors get ready to carry the mantle, Charleston Catholic's boys soccer team views the next chapter with great optimism and determination.
